Kal-El – Moon People
Majestic Mountain Records
Released 22 Sept 2023

Sometimes, all that is required is a sweet blast of high quality Stoner metal groove. Moon People is the new EP from Norwegian band Kal-El and it is a short EP, only 2 tracks long. Each track clocks in at a little over 7 minutes each and not a single second of this time is wasted.
If you have listened to Kal-El before, you will know what to expect. Esquisite tone, fuzzy goodness and a damn good time. Kal-El do not stray from the stoner path. The opening track has a sound akin to Kyuss and there can be no higher praise in this genre. A brooding riff permeates throughout and there is almost a hint of prime Ozzy in the vocals. Note I said prime and not latter day, voice shot Ozzy.
The closing track continues to provide unfettered enjoyment, boosting the serotonin production in your brain to mesmeric levels. Yes, it brings nothing new to the genre, but it isn’t trying
to. This is Kal-El providing joy and happiness through the medium of catchy, fuzz-laden riffs and stoner-metal magic.
Whether Moon People are cast-offs from their ‘Dark Majesty’ album released in 2021, or if it is a precursor to a new album due soon doesn’t matter. The fact is Kal-El have released a couple of top-quality songs.
If you can find a spare 15 minutes in your busy day, spend it listening to Moon People. It will make you happy!
