Dissocia – To Lift the Veil
Willowtip Records
Released 21 Mar 25

To Lift the Veil is the debut album by Spanish/American duo Dissocia and it is a slab of progressive metal melded with synthwave and dreamwave elements. Being a duo, there is obviously going to be at least 1 multi-instrumentalist. In this case it is Daniel R. Flys of Persefone and Eternal Storm fame. He is ably supported by Wormed and Cancer drummer Gabriel Valcázar.
With a widdly opening riff, ‘Existentialist’ welcomes you in, with nice growled, but clear, vocals. The widdly riffs continue, making the track and the wider album, nicely disconcerting.
To Lift the Veil is an album with a lot of ideas, often distributed throughout the same song. This makes it a challenging, but intriguing listen. With synths, blast-beats and strong growls, the tracks demand your attention.
Dissocia have a big selling point in that To Lift the Veil is a very busy album, meaning you will be rewarded for each listen.
Best track: Existentialist
