Cult Burial – Collapse of Pattern, Reverence of Dust
Self-Released
Released 5 Sept 25

London based blackened deathsters, Cult Burial have released album number 3 Collapse of Pattern, Reverence of Dust to an eager audience. After their well-received sophomore album, Reverie of the Malignant, expectations were high. The hope was that the duo, Simon Langford (music) and César Moreira could scale those heights again.
Collapse of Pattern seeks to bludgeon the listener into submission. The aggression is tangible, you feel it deep in your spleen. It is heavy, it is guttural and it attempts to bury you in the deepest of riffs. The lack of subtlety appears to be a conscious decision.
The album could do with a touch more variation about it. The closing track comes closest to providing this, making it the best on the album.
Collapse of Pattern, Reverence of Dust is a decent album, but it lags behind the previous release which ultimately disappoints.
